Safety & Guide Requirement

Effective 2024, a certified guide is mandatory for hiking to the Boiling Lake. Guides carry official Government ID cards. The Valley of Desolation contains invisible steam vents that can scald exposed skin. Elvis identifies every hazard and ensures your group navigates safely through all volcanic terrain.

Self-drive guests: Park at the Laudat trailhead parking area. The road to Laudat is narrow — a 4WD vehicle is recommended. If you booked transport, Elvis will collect you from your accommodation.

"The Boiling Lake is not just a destination — it is a journey through the living geology of Dominica. I know where the steaming ground is safe to walk. I know the medicinal plants along the trail. I know when the weather is turning. After 1500+ hikes, I am still in awe. That awe is what I share with every single guest."
